Painting Playlist

MusicWhat would your painting playlist be?  So we came to the realization last week that…

(A) We need to buy a new “sound system.”  It’s time to upgrade from the tiny portable radio that does not have a digital dial.  Thankfully it doesn’t date us with a tape player.

(B) We need a painting playlist.  We know everyone likes different genres of music but we thought it’d great to hear from you and put together a list of songs that we can play during our painting classes.  It can be anything from Country to Latin just keep it clean and classy!  Enter your suggestions in the box below and submit!  We’ll post a list of the selected songs once we have all of the entries.  There will not be a deadline on this since music is always changing.  We’ll just keep you all posted each time we put together a new list.

New music means we will definitely be getting a new music player!  Time to UPGRADE!  No worries, we’ll have one of those fancy portable digital “i machine” players next class.

Everything Indy: For the Super Bowl, Art Goes Very Public

Indy ArtBy Mike Tanier

February 1, 2012, 4:31 pm

Throughout the week, Mike Tanier will be out and about and filing dispatches from the Super Bowl city.

INDIANAPOLIS–In the Super Bowl Village, the closest things a visitor can see to public art are some football-themed ice sculptures and the enormous, inescapable advertising banners: a movie poster here, a giant beer bottle there, Lombardi Trophies everywhere.

But, more thoughtful, evocative images can be seen just a few blocks away along the streets of Indianapolis. Nineteen vignettes portraying everyday joys, from baking cookies to gardening, line the walls of a railroad underpass at Capitol Avenue, just a few paces from the line for the popular Super Bowl zip line ride. Around the corner, a 160-foot wide vinyl banner atop the Illinois Avenue train trestle advertises nothing at all: it depicts a tangle of busses, trains and historical figures surrounding a bearded astronaut with angelic wings.

Facebook’s Small Business Boost Contest

I’ve recently entered us in Facebook’s contest.  If we are one of the top 10 companies with the most likes by April 2012 we will win $10,000 in Facebook advertising.  Now, I probably shouldn’t be promoting this since we do want to win however we still need your support.  This excites me since we have had nothing but success with Facebook advertising so far.  This week alone we have gained 100 likes in 4 days.  4days!  I can hardly believe it myself but it’s true and it’s worked.

Oh, I forgot to mention that we’ve also already won $150 in advertising from Facebook for reaching their other set milestones.  For such a small startup I haven’t seen such a positive response but I’m so glad that we have.  Things are starting to look up!
